Hello, first time on these forums just got back into tropical fish after having a tank when i was younger, but now ive got the funds i can start up again. i started with a 5 gal tank which i had some leopard danios in but now ive upgraded to a 64 litre im going to use the 5 gal for a betta.
So far in my 64 litre ive got 7 leopard danios, 1 yoyo loach i believe i cant remember what the pet shop called it (did have 2 but 1 didnt look too energetic the day i got it and didnt really notice till i got it home and it died a few weeks after getting it) and 6 glass shrimp. Now i know theres these guidelines of inches of fish per gallons of water etc, but i don't know if this is more for the personal space of each fish or what, because i figure with my danios for example more fish for less room wont be such a problem because they are a schooling fish, and im intending on getting another 3 to give me 10 in total, to my surprise my yoyo loach actively schools with the danios, but i want to get atleast another one so hes got another loach. I've been thinking of either getting some tiger barbs or some cory cats, and id get a minimum of 5 barbs or 4 cats.
The tank ive got does seem really spacious, with alot of open water (its quite tall), and once my wood has soaked will have a nice amount of places to hide, ive got 6 live plants in there at the moment and will proberly buy a few more and group 6 of them together in a back corner.
so will 10 danios, 2 loaches, and either 5 tiger barbs or 4 cats be ok in this tank? can i stretch and add any more if i pick the right fish?
thanks!

I would have 6 loaches because they need a group.Leopard danios are nice and small so a grop of 10 should be fine.depends what cat fish you are thinking of getting ,if you are thinking of getting corys then 6 of them would be cool,if plecos then most plecos won't fit in there but I'm no expert.Tiger barbs need a 55 gallon tank and would not get along with leopard danios. You could probabbly add a centerpeice fish like a dwarf gourami or dwarf cockatoo chichlid.
but considering i upgraded from a 5 gal to a 64 litre in a month cos i wanted bigger im sure ill end up wanting more once this tank is finished
