I got some of those pre-packaged plant bulbs the other day from the pet store and put them into my tank. There are now snails all over them. Will the snails in my tank (they are just ordinary ramshorn snails) eat my plant bulbs or are they just eating the decaying material on the outside?

they may be trying to eat some of the dead stuff on the outside of the bulb. sometimes it has dead plant on it.

they will not eat the bulbs but i suggest if your trying to grow the plant, keep it away from snails until it is getting leaves and stuff. they may eat the smallm sprouts that are coming out wich will make i ttough for the plant to grow without the snials trimming it back down to the bulb. once the plant is growing it won't matter, they may eat a bit but it will grow replacements for any leaves they eat on. the bulbs you buy from stores are usually fast growers and will continuesly grow more and more. the snails will just help keep the size down, but not by too much.

good luck with your plants. :good:
