Hi there,

I am planning to heavily plant an angel tank, if I dont have one of the iron rich substrates but have good light, co2 and liquid fertaliser will it be a success?

Regards Darren

yep. The plants will get their iron from the liquid fertiliser.

Thanks all, however I have found a product that fits my budget and think it should be OK here it is http://www.aquaclay.com.au/engl_bodengrund.htm, also does anybody buy plants online? and would anubias look wrong in an amazon tank from an asthetic point I know they are an african plant.

Perfect solution ;)

You can grow plants without a decent substrate but some plants struggle.

Re ordering plants online, use greenline (google 'greenline aquarium plants') for lots of good quality but cheap plants. Then use either aquaessentials or the green machine (http://www.thegreenmachineaquatics.com/e_w?catID-18124/cat_name-Aquatic+Plants) for tropica plants which are a bit more expensive but of superb quality and worth the extra money IMHO esp if you want a specimen plant.
