Hi everyone,

I'm keeping a Betta in a 2-gallon bowl (yes, I know it's too small!) and right now he has a silk plant. I'm changing 1/2 his water daily to keep ammonia down. Any ideas on what can be added to the bowl to help him out?

He's super shy and he needs more cover. Strangly enough, I taped small pictures my son drew to the sides of the bowl and the fish LOVES them. He swims back and forth looking at them. Clearly he needs stimulation.

something like cabomba would do ok in there and give him some hiding room,

is he "flareing" at the pictures? if so you may want to think about taking them off
as he will be taking them off.

I have a betta in a 3 gall bowl with a filter, but there's still ammonia in there. I've added some elodea and floating frogbit. The elodea is growing like mad, so must be using some ammonia, but there's still some there. From another angle though, he loves it! It's so much more natural for them :)

Plants will only help if the tank has a decent light over it (like a florescent desk lamp). Otherwise they will only make that environment even worse for the betta.
