Will My Urchin Be Okay?

I recently added a pvc structure to my reef tank. Shortly after, my white pincushion urchin, found his way inside. Will he be able to get out okay?

Yes. They like to wedge themselves into things and between rocks. I've yet to see one get stuck, though I suppose it's not impossible but they are able to cause their spines to go in one direction which makes it easier for them to get out of tight spaces.

Probably it likes it in there; some urchins do like to crawl into small spaces. They can't really get stuck in something smooth and continuous like PVC. However, if they get into a tight spot in rocks and get stuck, in the process of trying to un-stick they can cause rocks to fall and destabilize pretty big stacks.

I keep tuxedo urchins, which are similar and they end up in all sorts of odd places. Glad to hear it's doing fine.
