As many of you know I had a problem with my big 75 gallon fish tank. We had a pH crash which caused the bad bacteria to get out of hand which in turn caused an ammonia spike. In the end we transported all of our fish to a 20 gallon hospital tank until we could treat the big tank. In the end we drained the 75 gallon tank and took out all of the old gravel which was crawling with those cottony-looking bacteria. The 75 gallon tank is all set up now with new gravel and entirely new water, which means I'm going to have to cycle the tank. The tank is ready to go and I'll probably begin cycling it tomorrow or on Thursday, but can my fish live that long in the 20 gallon until the 75 gallon cycles?

Currently in the hospital tank is:
3 Silver Dollars (one the size of a small plate, the other two about 3 inches)
2 Angel Fish (about 3 inches)
1 Black Skirt Tetra (about 2 inches)
1 Marble Hatchetfish (about 0.5 to 1 inch)
1 Brown Knife Fish (about 4-5 inches)
1 Sailfin Pleco (about 3-4 inches)

I'm just worred as to wether all these fish will be able to live in a tank of that size until my 75 gallon has cycled again. Can they live like that for that long?

I'm sure this is a pretty dumb question.....but because of the size/amount of fish and obvious overstocking, I'm sure I'm going to have to do water changes in the 20 gallon hospital tank until the 75 gallon cycles. Correct?

do you have anyone you know that can take them off you for a while?

otherwise im not entirely sure but it will be alot of working keeping the 20gal water clean for them

Seems cramped, but I think they should be okay. Make sure the filter can cope with the bio load. You will need a good filter, and to do lots of water changes.

Is there a mature filter on the hospital tank? What are the water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate,PH)? You will need to test these regularly as it does sound a little cramped. With lots of attention and a little TLC, they should be ok. :good:
