well, for you who have heaters in a bowl, you should think about getting a heater for yourself if its really that cold you can also put it on top of your refrigerator if you dont want to buy a heater i think that goldfish bowl is fine for the rest of its life as long as its about a gallon in volume

Really you do need a heater they are tropical fish likely higher temps.

mine don't have heaters and they're doing perfectly fine. both are healthy and constantly flaring at each other. shadow swims to the side of his tank and behind the rock, flares at pacific until he flares back then bolts to the other side of the rock. it's quite funny.

it's been quite cold recently, but as long as your house is warm it shouldnt be a problem.
and why does everyone say the top of the fridge? the top of mine isn't any warmer than our counters.

you usually get constant heat from the back of the fridge so perhaps thats why...

i live in england and after reading this topic it made me think, could i have a betta in a bowl with no heater.

refrigerators produce a lot of heat from the coils in the back. not sure if you can access the heat anymore with the modern refrigerators though. old ones expell heat from the below the door and the back of it
