Will Moss Received Like This Still Grow?

If I buy Taiwan moss online, and some of it that I get is only the tips (the bits looking like a fern), will these also grow? The Taiwan moss I have got mostly all looks like this:

Thats all moss is. So yours is fine, you have to tie it to bogwood or rocks.

If I use a single piece of white knitting craft mesh, and tie the moss around with cotton thread, should I put the moss against the glass or mesh against the glass? If moss against glass (sandwiched between glass and mesh), the holes in the mesh look small. Will it all grow through eventually?
