at the moment i have 3 baby black fin sharks (jordini), 2 neon tetras, 1 dalmation molly and 1 pleco.(in a 10 gallon tank)

Would they be alright in a 35 gallon tank, its a long one. 36 inches long.

Also can i put 1 or 2 ghost shrimp in the 10 gallon tank to help clean. I dont mind if they get eaten by the sharks, its a nice snack.

I was thinking maybe i can get rid of 2 of my black fin sharks (arius seemani) and keep one for the 35 gallon.

how does that sound?

Black fin sharks need no less than a 90gal tank.

Darn, then i guess ill have to give them away to someone with that kinda space. I have one question, when i get rid of the sharks. i would really like something similar to them but that doesnt grow so big.

Any suggestions to what to replace it with? :kana:

Red tailed shark they usually need a 40gal but should be ok in the 35gal.

depends if you want to keep your neons or not.

Pim pictus would be the obviously thing but they eat neons for breakfast, and most other small fish.

I would also go check out and see wether your plec is a common one or sailfin as both of these are the most commanly sold in lfs and both grow huge- sailfins can exceed 18inchs while common plecs can exceed 12inchs and both of these fish are far too big for a 10gal to live in.

thank you so very much. Ive decided to give away my 3 black fins and get 1 or 2 pictus catfish they look exactly the same but they grom smaller. Thank you so much for the he^lp!

im so happy

P.S: is a pictus catfish a hard fish to find at a lfs store, or should i ahve no problem? :sly:

pictus cats are readily availible in most stores.

there a shoaling species so a group of 3 would be better as they will be more confident this way then should be out most the time, with only 1/2 there going to hide away.

Pictus cats come from the upper parts of SA where there are many rocks (as in bed-rock type and smaller pebbles). They are nocturnal but do come out sometimes during feeding (or so I noticed with mine... he never gave up a chance to snack :D )
When I bought mine at Petsmart last year they were 6.50 a piece (Canadian)

that sounds great.

Can u guys give me past experience or anything else you know about pictus catfish? if i cant get them out with a net do i use a cup or something. Are there fins like razors or sometin...fill me in pls.

Everytin you know about them would be great, thanks.
