Hi there,

I just started to cycle today, just added the ammonia about an hour ago in fact. I have live plants, hitch hiker snails and cherry shrimp in the tank.
Will the ammonia being at 2-4 ppm affect any of them? And will they in turn affect the cycle?

Those cherry shrimp will never live through the cycle, They need mature tanks D:

But other than that, If the snails/cherry shrimp die it might push up ammonia slightly.

oops...
Reading through the cycling stuff shrimp and snails were never mentioned. They were already in the tank so I didn't think to take them out

I have a cycled tank, I'll rescue who I can and hopefully I won't have hurt them too much

Oh that's not good for your shrimp and snails

Cycle the tank with your plants in but with any snails and shrimp out as that ammonia (and the soon to come nitrite) will kill them.

Yeah, everyone seems okay :) There were only like 5 shrimp and a few snails
