Hey,
Well i was at my LFS today and i found a lovely peice of driftwoof with a nice plant attatched to it....so i bought it :D
i was wondering if it would effect my fish at all.
I have read that it might lower my PH....my ph is 7.8- 8.0

So just wondering if it is fine in my tank :)
thanks

was it in water at the LFS? ... it might alter your PH a little over time but thats nothing to worry about if you do regular water changes

it also might turn your water brown (depends on the wood / how long its been in water)

it shouldn't effect your fish. if you have a catfish he'll love the wood and munch on it for fibre

yeah it was in water at the LFS :)
Great, thanks :) after rearranging my tank with the driftwood and some new plants my neons colours are showing more which is great :D

out of interest what plant was on it? java fern or anubis? or something else?

I think it is anubias .....
here's a pic-

looks a little like it, mine has a different leaf shape but i think it is =D very nice bit of wood =D

haha thanks :) i'm lucky though, they told me when they bagged it that it was a small piece, so $16 but when we got to the checkout they said it was a large which is $30. They ended up selling it to me as a small which was awsome :D

you may want to take those plants out of the pots at the back and plant them in the sand. Dwarf hairgrass spreads really well, it also may die off in the pots.

is your hairgrass still in pots? and what substrate do you have? just out of interest

Ianho- Hmmm, i never knew that  I will try and get them out tomorrow :D i SHOULD probably get some sleep(its 11:48pm here at the moment) :p

mike- yeah they are in pots still . I have sand substrate

anything under it? cos its a nice tank =] will look nice with the hairgrass out of the pots ;p

I unpotted the dwarf hairgrass :) not sure if i did it very well though :p
What are some good small plants i could have, i have a couple of spaces down the front of my tank that would look nice with some small plants, just don't know of any :p
