hi , iv got 6 neons and have just seen some nice red nosed ones , iv not got a lot more room so would ideally get one if he would mix with the neons ok or maybe two if not , what do you think ?

cheers d

no they will only school with the same species and you really shouldnt get more fish if there not going to be happy.

Yea they don't seem to school together unless you are dealing with variations of a single species.   I am not sure which tetras have different variations, but say you had green tiger barbs and regular tiger barbs, they would school together even though they are different color, because they are in fact the same species fish.  Unfortunately, rummy-nose and neon tetras are 2 entirely different species.

yup that also occurs with longfin and regular varaities of fish ie long fin and regular black skirt tetras.

Nice one , thanks for the info , il have to wait till my bigger tanks . Cheers d

It does sometimes occur to fish in the same genus. My neon tetras back then schooled with my cardinals

My sterbai corys don't school with panda corys.Sometimes they do but not very often.

yea cories often siocialize with other memebrs of  different species but prefer there own the most.
