Will Different Male Gouramis Fight?

I am looking at 3 different male gouramis,

a dwarf, a powder blue, and a red....will these compete against each other...my tank is a 40gal, 36" long.

well they are all colour variations of the Dwarf gourami, so they are pretty much the same species,
Are you just looking at keeping the three males without amy females? IMO with that sized tank, you should be ok provided it has lots of hiding places for them all. does the tank have many live plants? real or fake
Also what other fish are you looking to keep them with?

An important thing with the Dwarf Gouramis is to make sure they are 100% healthy before you purchase them, i.e. make sure they are from a reputable breeder,etc. Most Dwarfs purchased from large chains don't seem to do that well and are unlikely to live anywhere near their normal lifespan.

yeah Lots of real plants, and rocks, with some coreys, some boesemani rainbows, danios, cories, one red tail shark, 3 rams and a bn....

well, the LFS would not sell me just 2 males of different variety goruamis...so I bought a male and female dwarf. next up is a male and female pearl gorami...
