hi i dont have anyfish in the tank but i have loads of snails off of plants if i use my 10 litre diy co2 and make the water parameters dangerous for fish will this kill the pesky annoying ugly snails aswell cuz thats what i want
It might do, but I don't know if it will also affect other things.
With no fish in the tank there are plenty of snail killing treatments from the pet shops that should be OK to use.
They generally multiply when there is excess food. If you are not feeding any fish and pick out any dead plant leaves etc then you may be able to get rid of them by just picking the snails out when you see them.
ime gonna have high co2(lvls that r dangerous for fish) for 10 days
then im gonna lower co2 to normal lvls then i will get my shrimp and fish 3 weeks after that
In short if you can get and keep your CO2 high enough (we are talking yellow in your drop checker not green or light green) it will kill all life in this order (this is from experience when a whole cannister discharged in 1 day
1 - shrimp
2 - small fish
3 - larger fish
4 - snails
This is assuming you can keep this high level up for a few days. When I arrived to find a tank full of dead fish and shrimp and not moving snails. I fished as many snails out as I could into a bucket as I didn't want them to rot in the substrate and then went and had my tea. To my surprise when I came back the snails were climbing the sides of the bucket so they obviously take a lot more killing via CO2 than shrimp and fish
(You will not be able to maintain this level with yeast based CO2 it will take a high pressurised flow to get this sort of ppm for a few days)
lol i think i will hehe bcuz i have just made a magnificent 10litre diy co2 which will pump out soo much co2 in my mini little aquaqube 40. so thus in 1 weeks i can wipeout completely wipe out all inhabitants which at the moment are really pesky snails that came off my rotala.
so smiles all around ill tell you my results in 10 days
oh btw when the snails die do they float to the top or do they sink ( please say float it will be so much easier to get them out)
