Hello, this post is mainly for a friend of mine. She has a 125G tank with two angels, a koi and marble. The koi has laid eggs on her intake tube.  She is not allowing any other fish near the area, except for the marble. Not positive if this is a male, but he? did help to clean the area and is still allowed in. My big question is, can a koi angel and marble angel crossbreed?

Before anyone gets going about crossbreeding, this in no way was done on purpose lol. The koi angel was actually just purchased about a two months ago and was a almost the size of a quarter, and has now grown to obviously a mature size. Quite unexpected, but cool none the less and proves they are happy/healthy :)

Any info and input is appreciated!!

Yes, they can crossbreed; different angels (as long as they're not Pterophyllum leopoldi or P. altum) are just colour variations, not different species.

Koi are just stripeless Gold marbles, so there's no reason that they can't breed.

Okay, thanks :) any idea on how to tell if the eggs were fertilized or not?

If they fungus up rapidly (or the parents eat them) then they may not be fertilised (although that isn't always the case) otherwise if they start to produce little eyes in them they they're definitely fertile.

Okay great. Thanks for the help :)

Ill update if anything progresses with the little buggers :)
