Hey
I'm thinking of swapping my widowed ellioti for a couple of angel fish but I was wondering if they'd be alright in my tank. I have an aqua style 620t, 130l Tank which it 2ft tall, 2ft wide and 1ft deep. I know the height would be alright it's just the width. The guy at my lfs said it would be perfect as theirs a lot of height for then but I just wanted to double check. :)

I was thinking of either getting a couple of black lace, koi or Altum. I don't know how much any of these are so if their mega expensive il get cheaper ones haha.

the other fish in their are various barbs, corps, plecs and a couple of killfish and some snails :)

cheers
rob

The height's a;right, but the length isn't; angels need at least three feet of length.

Could it be alright if I get them small for a year or two and have the tank as a grow out tank. I'm planning to get a new tank when I move out soon Like 6ft or something.
How long it take angels to get fully grown and how big is that?

cheers
:)

Angels are crazy quick growers. I got mine about 3 months ago at the size of 20-50p pence pieces, and they're already massive! So you'd have to upgrade much sooner than a year or two.

Agreed. Angels should take much less than a year to get to almost full size, which would be six to eight inches in length and ten to twelve from top to bottom of the fins.

I would wait until you get the big tank and get your angels then :good:

What would happen if i had got them? Would they have stunted in growth? Can someone explain what the effects of growth stunting is?

I have looked at angels and saw a dwarf type of angelfish?

Thanks for the help btw :)

One of my angels has crazy crooked anal and dorsal fins- this is from her having been kept in a tank way too small for her previously (not by me). It's a shame, because she's a beautiful wee thing and I'm just hoping as she grows they wont cause her any problems with swimming (they are that wonky!). Aside from messing up their fins, stunting in general is horrible- fish will often end up with deformities as a result of lack of space, bad water quality, bad nutrition, etc. Search stunted fish on google and you'll see the results.

"Dwarf" angels are Leopold Angelfish, and still get to about 10cm in height, so I'd say those wouldn't work either.

No problem! It's great that you're doing research first :good:

Ahh I see, I got told that normally they just stop growing and if healthy should be alright. Didn't know it could lead to that many problems :(

if it's only 10cm in height that would be like 7-8cm in length that should be alright with just over 2ft? (just measured).

it's annoying my my tank has loads of height for them but not the width :( is there anything else simular to an angelfish but will fit in my tank?

thanks for your help :) always like to make sure as a lot of the lfs around here tell you lies to make More money :(

Hey sorry to be a pain. Will then Leopold angelfish be ok in my tank?
I did some research and found that they only get 2 inches in length and 6 inches tall which should be ok?
also found out that their quite expensive haha, oh well there still nice so if its alright il probably get some and take away the ellioti to prevent fighting etc :)
