Wild caught plakat

I snuck into the fishroom this morning and found my little wild caught plakat looking so precious in his sleep...

He's the most miserable betta I keep. I got him back in July and I honestly didn't think he was going to make it. It seems he lost the will to live almost, but lately he's chippered up a lot.

"Why on Earth is she doing this now?!?"

"I hate you so much...."

Just thought you guys might like to see him I fell so in love the minute I laid eyes on him. The feeling is most definitely not mutual.

On another note, I was astonished by my wilds yesterday. I keep all of them on the same row, and my smaragdina female and my simplex female are neighbors. I had moved my simplex pair a couple/few weeks ago into a spawn tank (yeah,right!). Lately I noticed my smaragdina female has been really sad and I didn't know why. As I was tearing down the simplex spawn tank (yeah,pffft!) last night it finally dawned on me that the smaragdina might just be missing her simplex best friend (I know, I'm corny).
Turns out, that is exactly what was wrong with her. She literally lit up when I plopped the simplex girl back into her tank next door. It was so, so cute. She was sooo excited to see her

Sam ~ Yeah, he's really wild caught That guy Martin Tony who came over from Singapore for our show brought two with the rest of the wilds. I believe Synirr's friend bought the other one.

Bless the little guy.....what it is about Bettas?!?! They are so full of their own characters!! Oberon seems to love doing flips on his head!! Daft thing!! Mind you....completely insane ownder = completely insane fish!!!
Wuv...he is cute!! Real teenager attitude!

P.S. Oh...to have a fishroom!! My fishroom is my bedroom! Who needs a desk that you can work on and wardrobe space and cabinets that don't hold fish equipment anyway...... and the bed.....well that's the cats!!

No, he lives like the rest....with not much at all but a bare bottomed tank I tried live plants for the wilds but I just don't have good lighting at the moment and they all died.(honestly, I can kill duckweed, seriously!)
Perhaps he would like a little cave! I have a sweet piece of driftwood that he can have. (By the way, I use Amazon Rain instead of IAL)

Maybe since he's used to having stuff around him (since he is a "true" captured wild type)...he'd prefer some of that wonderful natrual type gravel you have in your krib tank, some silk plants, and a hidey hole....maybe seeing his reflection and not having anything to make him feel like he's "at home" makes him "home sick" .

No, I'm not sure I was guessing because of his body style. I suspect he is a natural occuring hybrid....possibly. I think he definitely, most likely, has smaragdina in him.

Probably so. Want him?
If not, I guess I could set him up sweetly, I'll most likely never breed him anyway so he can just live large in a mini castle. He'll have to stay in the 2.5 he's in though. All of my larger spare tanks are lined up for occupants at the moment.

hmm this is interesting. id say he is somewhere in between imbellis x smaragdina, or smaragdina x splendens. i see mostly imbellis and smaragdina in him tho. i want one lol im a sucker for the hybrids.

Could be imbellis and smaragdina. He's quite large and thick though.That's why I lean towards splendens. They had him labeled as "wild caught plakat" when he came in.
