Yesterday, I went to feed the fish, like always. Well, 3 betta tanks and the fry tank had moved to the floor since we had to move some stuff around. I fed the fry, then went over to Crimson's tank. I didn't see him shoot up at the front like he usually did, but didn't pay much attention to that. When I opened the lid, he was floating there, dead :-( :-( :-(
The food I had previously given him was uneaten at the top and bottom, and bits of his fins were laying at one corner of the tank. A big chunk was missing from his anal fin and from one of his ventrals. :-(
What killed my little boy? I feel so bad for him . The lid is always on and nothing else was in the tank so he couldn't have gotten beaten up by one of the girls that jumped in his tank. He looked like he was about to flare, his gills were part open... I'm so sad :-( :-(
And my mom said I can't get another betta for at least a month, so I can't order another sib to breed, I think I'll try breeding Gabriel (blue marble ct) with Shiro (cambo hm).
We're burying him beside Kiki (my bird) tonight :-(

awww no way  he couldve got caught on something and struggled to get to the surface to breath and ripped his finnage in the process, bless him

Hmm... he doesn't have anything in his tank to get stuck on, other than some plants... but their leaves are pretty far apart, so I don't think he could've gotten stuck. Thanks everyone for your kind words :)

Is it possible for him to have choken on something? Was he bloated? I've found a bloated fish with his gills slightly open usually chokes on something... always happens to the expensive fish... sigh.

When was the last time you saw him?

Sorry about the little guy. Betta often die with gills extended when in distress--ime.

i am so sorry mommy.....

if you lived next door, i would possibly give you one of my betta girls!!!!!

have a nice ceremony for him and may he RIP along with your birdie.

So sorry for your loss. I know what it's like to say good bye to one loved betta. I lost my first betta boy this summer.
Rest in peace little man. :flowers: :rip: :byebye:
