Why Wait 3 Days To Feed New Fish

I was told this today when I was researching what fish I'm gonna get. Why is this?

If a fish is stressed and eats, it sometimes won't digest the food properly and that can cause death in some rare cases. I prefer to not feed until the day after the new fish go in.

Fish aren't always interested in food during the first couple of days while they settle in too. That can mean any food you put in will just sink down and go off, which can lead to water quality problems and that's the last thing you need when you've got new fish!

Most of our aquarium fish are massivley over-fed compared to their wild conterparts, plus fish have a different metabolism to mammals, so it's not a problem for them to go without food for longer than you'd think. An established tank with healthy fish can easily be left for two weeks without feeding.

I feed mine a small amount a few hours after they arrive. Never had a fish refuse to eat
