it’s a good thing these tanks were set up to be able to handle minimum maintenance…

Mrs. wasn’t feeling well, and after a 3 day wait to get into urgent care ( you need an appointment to get into urgent care??? )
they did some tests, and sent her home…. an hour later, they called her, and told her to go to the emergency room, as soon as possible. which then they transferred her by ambulance to a hospital an hour and a half away… 3 days later, she is still there, without a firm diagnosis, except that her kidneys are failing… she is continuing to get worse each day in the hospital … their best guess is it is auto-immune , and her body is killing her kidneys… kidney biopsy and 1st dialysis today…. so, tanks look good, but no new fish ordered. low maintenance mode for at least another week or two, until they get a handle on this…

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. This must be a scary situation.

test results are starting to come in, it looks like an autoimmune reaction… perhaps the treatment may include anti rejection drugs used for transplants???

it’ll be a couple days until they get the results from the kidney biopsy they did yesterday… she didn’t get in for dialysis yesterday, so that is slated for today, while they are waiting for more test results…

My Uncle had a period where his kidney function nosedived. With treatment, he was able to rebound, and while he was monitored for the rest of his life (it was COVID that got him in the end) his kidney function stayed in the safe zone for more than 10 years. I hope your wife's situation takes the same upward direction soon. It must be incredibly stressful for both of you. Hang in there.

That "no diagnosis" stuff is scary. I feel for you and her both. Hang in there and keep us posted.

I've been thinking of you, as I'm sure others here have. Updates are low priority, but I hope you're both doing well.

Mrs. came home last night… for now, so far nothing has jump started her kidneys, and after talking to her family, there seems to be an inherited auto immune trait on her fathers side… several cousins have various auto immune diseases… they are kind of “throwing drugs against the wall trying to see what sticks” from drugs of that class… so far nothing is helping… she is scheduled for 3 dialysis treatments per week forever, or until something changes… both of her cousins go into and out of remission with their diseases, so there is a chance they will get her kidneys going again, just no idea when or with what will start them, so we are looking at life style and diet changes from now on… it kind of sucks, that I have diet restrictions, and there is very little match up, so we’ll likely be preparing separate meals, from now on???

You get used to the different diets. I'm diabetic and my wife has diet changing damage from past cancer surgeries, so we've been on that carousel for a while. Meanwhile, my elderly mother in law lives with us and has an extreme low salt diet...

What you can't change, you juggle....

I hope there's a sudden positive change.
