Are you sitting comfotably?

Then I'll begin...

In our 40gal I have spent a good amount of wedge on my plant (eg equipment)

They are now getting...

Over 200Watts of Denarle light. - about £80
Canister Co2 with Aqua medic Deffuser - about £120
Laterate/sand and gravel substrate. - say £50
and root tabs and ferts as/when - say £50 (so far)

Here comes the annoying part... the plants go throught annoying death stages every few weeks - all looks good - some are spreading then they die off... I'm guessing i'm not adding enought ferts - but when i go i get an algae problem...

Anyway. I moved some of the new plants into my other tanks. With nothing right for them (eg high flow rates and lots of oxygenation for our plecs) No Co2, no ferts, sand substrate - with notihing added.
They are going nuts! the valsallis is bending over the water now in both the tanks I've put it in (about 2" spring about 4 weeks ago) and it's doing my head in.

What am I doing wrong in the main tank?

Are the tank's readings all the same in both tanks? A piece of bogwood in one tank could raise the ph, and I guess stocking rate could play a part in it as well. And also, what kinda light is the other tank getting?
