Right, just got 5 river shrimp in my betta's tank. My betta is docile and only swims up to have a look at what they're doing, but every time the betta goes near, or anything makes a loud sound, this one shrimp jumps out of the water and sticks himself to the edge of the tank. I have to keep putting him back in the water.

How can I stop him doing this? I'm putting him back in every 10 minutes. It's only one shrimp who does this too.

Do you have any or much plant life in the tank? some thick plant might let the shrimp hide and settle in better. When you say creek shrimp I am guessing maybe they have just been wild caught. Maybe also leave the tank dark for a while so the shrimp can explore the tank and feel safe, and have tank lights on later after the shrimp have had a chance to realise the tank is safe.

They aren't wild caught, they were shop bred. The tank is pretty much all plant life. He seems to have calmed down a little after I gently showed him the way into a nest of plants.
