Why Is This Happening

slightly more than 2 weeks ago, my dad did a 100% water change and even clean out the filter with tap water, that means all my bacterias are gone...so i have to recycle de tank...now even after 2 weeks de ammonia lvl is still not dropping below 4.0 ppm...my tank is a 30 gall wif 5 guppies, one rhino pleco, and an apple snail...why arent the ammonia lvl dropping??? no nitrites or nitrates...help pls, ty
 
sounds like u gonna need 2 cycle ur tank from scratch that means a possible 6 weeks again, as for time been the ammonia levels in that tank are way 2 high for fish 2 live comfortably if u dont move them or return them 2 ur LFS theres a big chance they will are die

sorry for the bad news but the most inportant thing is removing them fish

indeed,

washing the filter with tap water is like removing a persons immune system.

You're gonna have to re home the fish or you'll have to do large water changes daily to get the ammonia to .025 at least but not over. Add lots of air to the tank as the fish will be gasping for air.

This is such a shame.

Filter media should be washed in extracted tank water. Only wash a little bit.
