When I woke up today i noticed that my temp was 84 degrees! Its usually around 76 degrees. I check and my heater was set for 72 and even when it was off, i looked and the temp was going up!!
Is there any way I can stop this? and Why is my temp going higher than the heater? :/ -_-

its 76 degrees in my room so it cant be the room

Well as it can take a few hours for a full tank to warm/cool id leave it for a few hours and see if anythings changed.

I know but i left it when i went to school and it was getting hotter, do you think i should put on the fan? And its hotter outside than inside.

You can float icecubes in a plastic bag to cool the tank down as a temporary solution.

Give that a try if youre worried

I heard about that buy im worried that the it will become too cold or be bad for the fish.

What size is this tank ?
What lighting do you have ?
Any room heating nearby ?
Are you sure "OFF" is actually off !!!!! some heaters light up when off, some when on !

I dont have any heating in my room, 25 gallon, heater set for 76 15 watt lighting.
What you think.

Don't use ice cubes as it's a complete waste of time as the temp soon goes back up. Fish will get stressed due to the changing temp all the time.
Just increase aeration in summer months.
Or run a fan in the room where the tank is.

So the heater off and the temp tank still going up even though the room temp is lower.
Dosn't make sense to me.
How old is the heater.
