I have a 5 gallon Fluvial Spec V. currently the inhabitants are a pair of guppies(one pregnant), 4 shrimp, 2 chili rasboras and 1 cardinal tetra and 1 ramshorn snail with babies. For some reason the biggest cherry keeps swimming up to the surface and back down, but only one of them is doing so. I will post test results soon.

I wouldn't worry about it too much if it's just one shrimp doing it. They do that sometimes when they are ready to mate I think. Or just looking for food. If your parameters are fine don't worry about it. The only other thing I can think of is sometimes when the water has low oxygen fish will hang out near the surface because oxygen is higher there, but if it's just one shrimp doing that it's probably not a big deal.

It’s normal, mine do it all the time. (Gender really doesn’t play a role in it. However, I do notice more females doing it than males)
