I'LL TELL YOU WHY!!!

She layed eggs!!

Wow, I just got them last friday and they've already spawned or w/e you wanna call it(i guess just layed the eggs). I didn't even try! Well wish me luck and any tips would help as I have no idea what I'm doing.

You're so lucky! I got mine 1-2 weeks ago, and I'm still stumped on what sex they all are.

Sconrad,is not that rare that a healthy adult pair brought from a pet store starts spawning within the same week,as long as they are healthy, water conditions are of their liking and they feel confortable.
They are indeed great parents. It takes them a while to get it right, but once they get it,you'll see tiny silver babies very often.

Reality is that nobody can take care of those eggs and eventually the babies as the parents. Now,it is also true that in an isolated environment there are more chances of those eggs hatching and the babies surviving, than in a community tank full of hungry mouth.
But,wouldn't you like to see those two trying to raise their babies?I mean,if there is something that cichlids owners love is seeing their fish raising their young.

Sure would. I have another question though...they are starting to fight a little bit, should i remove one of them? If I should, wich one do I take out?

BTW+They are in an isolated tank by themselves...

Remove the male. The female may view the male as a rival and feel that her eggs are being threatened. They often don't get it right the first time around, but as they gain experience they become better parents, apparently.

David is right,it takes the ramis a few times before they get it right.
I have another question....how big is that tank, and what exactly do you mean by "starting to fight"?Do you mean they are really vicious towards each other or the male chacing her trying to get some (Uhmnnn)?
If it's the first one most definately remove the male.If it is the latter,it might be over pretty soon.

Yeah, the fighting is over...I was scared when I came home, they eggs were gone, figured they got eaten...
I took a closer look and they weren't eatin, they were just moved to on top of the rock. and they are like..ViBrAtInGgGgG lol, it will be exciting when they hatch**(wich i think a few have..)even if the parent's don't do a good job.
The tank is a ten gallon, but the rams or the only thing in them.

they will be good parents. whats the temp in the tank? you are lucky! i want my rams to breed so badly. im jealous of you. :(

I am glad they stopped fighting.About the eggs,at this time you may even see their little tails wiggling. It's nothing short of amazing. Now you know why cichlids are among the most popular fish in the world, their parenting skills are by far and beyond the best!
Just wait 'til you see a silver cloud swimming next to their parents.Just make sure to buy some baby food from your LFS.

Want to see something cool?Check this picture out.And it's not just about the pretty fish and that flash reflection, but look carefuly underneath the ram among the gravel. There are a few babies. This was the first time this couple raise a bunch of babies.
