I bought some itty bitty lilies at the petstore when I redid my tank, and the one that fell off the bulb has died, and the other one is growing like CRAZY!!! Is this a particularly hardy species of lily that I just happened to think was cute?? None of my other plants are growing all that well, and I'm curious if the plant is just using up its reserves from the bulb??? Does this mean my plant will just up and die in a few months, and there is nothing I can do (other than a complete lighting/co2 overhaul)? I'm absolutely nuts about this plant, so I figured I would ask...

Do you use ferts? Those lillies recquire their majority of ferts from the substrate. Not from the water.

I dunno bout that fern in the very front of the pic, but it doesnt look aquatic. Do u have its sp. name?

The fern in the far back right looks like its doin good, and so does the red plant (hygro?)

No, I don't use ferts, and the substrate is straight playground sand.

The crypts in the back look good because there's 10 of them close together... they're at their peak at the moment, LOL. They go in spurts. They hygro? is also new, it doesn't look as good as when I bought it, so I'm not sure if its doing well or not...

As for the fern in the front, (like most of my plants) I have absolutely no idea what it is. I got it at petsmart, and I'm pretty sure its non-aquatic. It hasn't grown, and it hasn't died. Looks good though, so its alright.

As far as i know, play sand has 0 nutrients of any kind so i reckon you're headed for plant problems down the line. Get some fertilizer tabs into the sand.
I've just planed one of those lillies and it looks great, beautiful plant.
Tank looks good, mate.
