We have had O.J. here for well over a year and from day one he has had one big 'mongey eye', he is quite happy and always had been, I assumed it was just a deformity but could it be something else.

He is happy enough.....just a bit....mongey looking.

It doesnt look like popeye, maybe just a defect or the other will grow as the fish grows to keep in proportion.

Its definatly not popeye......we have had him over a year and he has always been like that, it hasnt gotten any bigger I just wondered if it was something that might cause him problems later in life.

He has grown over twice the size since we got him so he is fine and seems happy as larry.
 
If he's always been like that for over a year for as long as you can remember, i'd say it was a birth defect- fish like black mores can be very inbred from their extensive breeding to acheive their defining characteristics, mutations like this aern't that uncommon because of this. As long as the fish seems happy and not in any discomfort, i would just leave it as it is :thumbs: .
