I've had a 10 gallon tank for about 4 years. As of last weekend I had: 2 small platies 2 glofish 2 glass cats 1 albino bristlenose pleco 1 neon rainbowfish 1 blind cave fish and 1 yoyo loach.
For the first time 5 days ago I noticed ich on my blind cave fish. I've never had it but I've heard of it. Treated that with Tetra Ick Guard. In 2 days the cave fish died as well as one of my glass cats. On the 3rd day the ich disappeared but my other glass cat died. (They both turned cloudy looking and had stiff fins.) I kept treating the tank because I wanted to kill the parasite while it was in the water.
I got Melafix because my platies had torn fins. I now use that and Ich Guard every night. I did remove the carbon filter and do the proper dosing, and I have been feeding them less food. I've also done 30% water changes every day because of the deaths and also because you're supposed to do that before adding more Ich Guard.
However since 3 days ago my fish have lost energy. They are almost always sitting at the bottom of the tank, fins not moving. (Except the pleco seems okay, and the rainbowfish is always in the middle of the tank, but not moving around.) This is not normal at all. Some appear to be gasping. The loach can't seem to swim straight and jams himself in a fake plant. One glofish I noticed is breathing hard and has a red streak around his anus, and there's clear colored poop (or something) coming out. I'm worried the others have it too. Sorry about the long story, but I really want to know what's going on!
Is it a parasite? What is the cause, and what should I do?? If there's a medicine, please be specific. Thanks in advance.
