Why Do People Have To Be So Picky!?

I recently sold some of my fish on fleabay after a lack of interest when advertised on here. During the countdown of the auction I received a message requesting a postage price for all 3 listings, namely a. 2 clown loach b. a female betta and c. 2 bolivian rams.

I suggested to the person interested that the postage cost would be around £20 but that I would refund any excess. I also stated in the listing that I would prefer collection or courier to be arranged.

Said person said that this was fine and proceeded to win all three listings for a total price of less than £4.50 for all three lots.

After messing about over paying with paypal they have agreed to pay by postal order but have sent me a message complaining about the postage cost!

The message is basically telling me that £20 is way too much to be paying for all of these fish to be sent in one box, even if it is that I charge them for the box that I send them in.

I could blow my top quite easily, postage and packaging is just that POSTAGE AND PACKAGING. ggrrr! It's probably going to cost me more than that to send them anyway as I would have to bag pretty much each fish separately, so obviously weight is going to come into it with the water. And yes the box is part of the packaging!

What do I do? I've typed out a lovely nice polite response explaining that as a fish keeper they should understand that these fish can't all be sent in one back together etc etc but the other side of me feels like just telling them where to go and cancelling the auctions.

After such a cheap win on all fish, how can they still pick at what I would say is a very good price for postage?

You tell them that as that is what they agreed to then if they have changed there mind they are letting you down and therefore you have no obligation to send the fish to them (presuming you have the messages saved).

Tell them the offer still stands and if the postage and packaging costs are below £20 then you will refund the difference.

They've been told that twice before this complaint.

To be honest I don't envisage the money arriving anyway.

I do feel for you. Some people on ebay can be ridiculous.

to be honest its not even worth the stress for less than £5 it costs £25 from royal mail to post fish weighing between 2kg-10kg
i would just cancel the auction though you do run the risk of getting negative feedback some people are just a pain in the butt

I want to sell my cory juvi's,but i dont want the hassle of p&p so it will probably be collection only.has i haven't a clue how to bag up fish anyway

I sold a fish on Ebay for 99p and my advert said COllection Only. The buyer lived 100 miles away and expected me to post it free of charge! I refunded him the 99p and he left bad feedback ruining my 100% good feedback record. Never again!

the guy i buy off on ebay charges £11.50 for a poly box with heat pack which i think is fair but it does state in his listings that if it weighs between 2kg and 10kg its £25 TBH most people are fair but you always get 1

Just petition it if you get negative feedback and then tell the eBay reviewer that you on multiple occasions had arranged to organise postage prices after the sale. The fact that they are livestock and their weight is ever changing makes it near impossible for you to gauge a weight on which they would be when posted.

Furthermore reiterate the fact it's livestock on the line and that if the seller isn't willing to pay sufficiently towards postage you would not want to run the risk that the fish would be DOA.

Good Luck, eBay are usually quite good when you get outrageous complaints.
