why do my convict parents keep eating the fry??

Hi

My first attempt with breeding pair of convicts produced eggs but then they dissapeared and that was it, then two weeks later I had eggs again and this time they hatched and had approx 30 - 40 fry and after approx 1 week after they hatched I only have 2 left

Why???

any help or advice appreciated.

btw they are the only fish in the tank, the 2 parents and the fry, nothing else!!

It's natural to lose the first spawn but they usualy manage to raise the next correctly... give them some time and they should figure out what they have to do. You'll have many spawns from them once they get started anyway
