Why Do I Never See Really Nice Bettas?

In my local fish shops all I ever see is one/two toned bettas, I never see any of the really fancy Bettas (like the big flowing finned white ones).

I currently have 1 red and 1 purply/blue Betta in a 60litre tank with dividers. I took them off my friend who wanted to put them both in a small coldwater goldfish bowl (duuhhh) so had to make a divider out of acrylic pretty quick sharp, I have since ordered ?Pentaxx? Dividers off eBay and I imagine they are in the post as we talk.

I will post a picture of my Bettas in the journals section shortly after I have taken some good snaps.

My tank is 60L and I plan on maybe having 2 sections with 2 males in and the other section a number of females, would this be okay?

Thankyou.

Tim.

Hi Tim

Most of us now buy our bettas online from various sources, i only have 3 shop brought currently (out of 17) 1 female that i rescued and 2 shortfinned males i brought as females.

Usually we recommend having a minimum of 5 females to hep spread aggression, for this you'll be wanting 30l out of 60l IMO

The males will still have plenty of space as i have a 60l divided up into 4 :good:

That is great to hear, could you reccomend me any reputable websites to purchase Bettas from?

How much space does each divider need if it's just going to have one male in?

Thankyou.

Theres loads, Betta Boys, Betta Bred, KGBettas (can't think of anymore at the min  )

well my 60l is 60 cm long so my males have a 15cm space each which provides them with 3-4 gal each :good:

The measurements of my tank are 60Lx30Dx35H. I bought 12" by 12" dividers but I think they may need trimming a bit.

In theory I can have the two males in 15cm each and then 5 females in the 30cm part.

Is it possible to keep anything else with the males in their compartments?

Thankyou.

i have a group of 8 kuhli loach in mine, they dig under the sand area i have at the front allowing them to go in which section they want, i also have the odd juvinile livebearer if at times until big enough to go with the big fish

Yeah we all buy ours online from people who breed and import them. KG Bettas, Bettaboys, BettaSplendens are all good sites that we use.
