Why is it that almost all species and kinds of tropical fish are hardley not shy at all at the pet store?

Even the fish considered "shy" any not even shy at fish shops.
The second you take them home though their very shy and never come out, and are that way for quite a long time! Even if your keeping the fish in their recomended group sizes.

Didnt fish in the pet store go through great deals of stress and moving on the way there? Whats the difference if their just moving home to one of our tanks?

It just seems everyones fish are shy for quite a while when they get them. Its not like they were living in the fish store tanks for a long time and got comfortable.

lol im just confused, Seems weird to me -_-

they have to get used to a new tank and new fish they havent seen before

i think its the certain lack of decor and space in the LFS... most at-home tanks have more things to hide behind and less overcrowding than at the LFS.

I agree. In most setups I seen in the shops there are very few hiding places for the fish even if it wanted to by shy and hide away. They are also usually kept with all their own kind. When the fish gets into your tank, its meeting several new species for its first time in its life.

Think of it this way. What if someone put you in a room, full of different cultures, and you had never heard. seen or known about them before? You would likely be both shocked, scared, stressed and shy. Bad example I guess…but you know what I mean lol.

im not an expert but in the lps they r use to there environment and when theyre in our tanks there just getting use to it it usually goes away after a week or so

yeah i guess i can totally see why fish can be so shy.

That would really suck to be the only single species in a tank with no others of the same kind. I can see how fish can be so stressed and shy. :/ poor guys!

But thats why we all try our best to keep them as happy as possible!

Wolfdog thinks to himself... "i need a couple more neon tetras..."

I think it's a saftey in numbers thing. I've gotten 20 or more fish at a time at an auction, put them all in the same tank, in 1/2 hour, they are fine. Take a few fish from a busy tank, put them in a tank across the room by themselves, it takes a few days until they get to normal.
