Why Are These A Funny Shape?

i went to one of my lfs today and they just got blue rams and gold rams in but they looked very fat and round. do they have something wrong with them (parasites?) or are they just a funny shape as none of mine in the past have looked like this in the past.

i just done a bit more research and i think they are baloon versions of the rams is this possible?

I've heard of balloon rams before, but never seen them.

they had some which were just labled as baloon rams then they had the blue/gold ones that werent labled as baloon ones but defo look like them!

Yes unfortunately they are gold balloon Rams,

Blue Rams are considered a sensitive species when they are at full strength,

Any Balloon species is going to be much more weaker than their 'natural' cousins and are much more likely to suffer health problems as their organs are pressured into an unnatural bodyshape,

Being a 'balloon" anything in the fish world means it's a genetic defect. So, considering that it's not a common naturally occouring one, they are most likely inbred, and rams are a very sensitive species.

I've never heard of balloon rams being more sensitive than normal rams. I don't see anything ethically wrong w/ them. Personally though I like normal rams better.
