Why are my platie's gravid spot always there but..

Hey,
Why do my platies never give birth but the gravid spot is always dark black?
This happened with the guppies that I used to have but in the 2 years they lived I never saw a baby in the tank. It's the same story with the platies, my ph is good, I do water changes about 20% weekly and the tank is very well axcerated and filtered. Please help me!

I would like to know that myself. I have a guppy that has had a very dark gravid spot since I bought her and a molly that looks ready to split and neither have popped yet. Been at least 2 1/2 to 3 weeks.
