when ever i go to my LFS i nromayly see coulered look parrots. Most of them are still there and are in good health.Im suprised they're not dead yet or dieing.. Also some of the coulers fading

its a shame aswel becasue they do sound like a good fish and sound as-if they have a nice personality ( they follow my fingure and stuff in the LFS and they look cute :( ) i feel sorry for them.

but i a couple weeks ago. i was on a site where you can buy fish

and it had "Couloured Blood parrots NOT INKED"

this got me pretty mad  i contacted the owner and i hav'nt had a single reply yet.

What do you guys think?
:good:

I Dont get why they would ink such a cute fish anyway :/

because as gorgeous as they are (I have three and are in love with mine....) some people always want better! hence "glofish" and "jellybeans" "fruity" etc etc etc.....people dont care about the suffering as long as in the end it looks pretty to them...same thing we do to dogs....cut off their tails, cut their ears to make them stand straight up etc....it doesnt benefit the dog, is quite painful, but makes certain people think they look "better"

heres a picture of my babies....as you can see they are pretty enough with out being dyed purple, blue or green,....or made to have lipstick and chinese lettering as i have seen!!!

 they realy are gorgous

I Want them

EDIT : Going to keep the community tank idea for now though :) :good:

thanks....they are just so much fun to watch....they all have their own personalities....I got them when they were teeny tiny and still mostly their black juvenile colors....the orange one still has a tiny bit of baby coloring left but they have turned out wonderful

Since they are babies I have them in a 35 gallon for now...makes it easier to interact with them and I am trying to teach them to eat from my hands

well a blood parrot can grow up to about 9 inches....but most top off at about 6 inches....3 6" can be kept in a 55 gallon....but if one or more of them looks like it is going to grow larger I will probably put them all in a 75 or 90.

one can be kept in a 35 along with tank mates....and 2 (6") can be kept happy in a 40. I know that many say more...but the main problem is water stats.....if you keep up on water changes its fine size wise

actually it depends on the fish....mine were all babies in the same tank so they have no problems with eachother.....sometimes if you have one alone in a tank for a while and try adding a second one...the first one can feel territorial. but if they are all added around the same time then there are usually no problems.

they do live happily being the only BP....they interact with their environment much more than with eachother. you could also put in some cories and dither fish too

:p i could try :D :good: i like blood parrots.

But im sticking to my Community stock :good: and after all they die. ( hopefully they will last a long time ) I may go for blood parrots until i move into marines

what do you have for stock right now....I have had blood parrots with zebras, skunk cories, mollies etc...because of their mouth shape they really cant bite and if you get a baby/juvenile they will simply accept the fish as what belongs with them

60 Litre tank ( Cycled )

Rio 180 ( Cycling )

And the stocking is a suprise and The website witch tells oyui f oyur overstocked or not said im close to being oversotcked

as far as aqadvisor goes...I take it with a grain of salt....because it has advised me that some combos, which I know WOULD NEVER work due to fish need (temp etc) would be fine, and when it comes to some not-so-common fish, like the BP, I find that it will say I am overstocked regardless of what combos/tank sizes I try....
