good evening all
my tank seems to have changed in to a fighting ring
at begining of the month
i had 6 male platys and 6 neons
all seemed happy

lost 1 of the neons
had a problem with water then every thing seemed ok
then lost one of the platys other platys seem to turn on him
after the killed him off evry thing ok for a bit then the playys went quiet but chacing neons
they seemed safe and fast until one day i was down to 4 neons
then the plats stared to pop at the last rainbow platytook 2 day then they killed him , stressed him out,

water was ok i so i did a smalist water chance
and as i was down to 4 platys and 4 neon thought i do a restock
so i got a few biggish fish to stand uo against the platys who are nearly 1/2 size again as i bought them
so bought 6 treata pengins and a Siamese Fighter

was working fine

pengins shoaling round top and middle tank
neons middle to bottom keeping out way of pengins .. understandable they smallist in tank
platys keeping self to self
siamese happy just floating round looking lovely

check my water all fine monday
Great

tuesday morning palys going mad chasing every body including them selfs
going at anything , poor old siamese hardly a fin left by this morning when i got up

tonight i find him dead in a plant...??????????
platys goinf mad now chassing each other

Why?????????????

i thought platys were happy community fish
what am i doing wrong?????

why are the fish so agressive and unhappy???????????????

Just one question.... What size tank... Platies are generally not aggressive enough to "kill" other fish??

are females less agresive
i bought the m because i thougfht they were happy community fish

No... they're not less aggressive.... it will just devide the attentions of the males so they'll have other things to occupy their hormones.

Will they breed easily because im not up for any more

another thing i so suprized how big they grown
they started about 1" now they about 1 1/2"

Yes... They will breed continuously without a doubt, but with all the other fish you have in there, the fry will not survive. You are however, on the limit of what you can keep in a 65l tank and must do at least 50% water changes per week.

yes im thinking of trimming down the fish i have in there
the tank has not turned out how i wanted
so i might set up new tank
or rethink this one

how would just 1 pair of platy settle in , or do they need to be in a group
