I have just added 8 rosy barbs to my 260l tank and I have started to notice that they are slowly losing their tails! They look like they have been nipped.

Could someone tell me who the likely culprit is?

I have 3 rather large angels, around 5".
2 x Boesmani rainbows, around 3"-4"
1 x Red Line Torpedo, around 3"-4"
1 x Chequered barb, 1"
and 1 Plec about 10".

I suspect the angels, could someone just confirm my suspicions?

Thanks

i would probaly thin the angels as angels can be quite aggressive but im no expert so wait till some one else confirms my anwseri would probaly think the angels as angels can be quite aggressive but im no expert so wait till some one else confirms my anwser

Could be the angels but are you sure a fish is doing it not a illness like finrot or somit what are your water parameters

I will test my water and report back.

I noticed 1 fish had what looked like a nibble taken out of its fin after just 1 day of being in the tank.
Surely fin rot wouldnt occur so suddenly?

Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 40

Could it still be finrot?
Ive noticed one of my Rainbows has a nibble out of its tail too!!

I reckon its the barbs that are likely to be doing the nipping.

This morning one of the Barbs is dead :-(
Half of its body was eaten too!!
