Just a fun question for all of the breeders out there. Who have you found in general is easier to breed. your average run of the mill petstore bettas, or your fancy imported thai bettas? I've personally found that the pet store bettas breed more willingly, and produce healthier, stronger and easier to raise offspring. Thats just what I've found in my experience with betta breeding. What does everyone else think?

Seems to me any fish you pay over $50 for won't breed. They're too snotty.

Haha i couldnt get my VT pet store betas too breed but my expensive little guys seem to be doing very well!

i find that pet shop bettas are stronger becuase they tend to just chuck a fish with any fish,But with quality fish they are selcted,And as the generations of the fish go on the more prone to disease they get,

Very good point

the fancy betta are selectively bred and often line bred for many generations, and the quality of thier genes detreorates, where as the pet type bettas are a good healthy mix of genes. its called "hybrid vigour". same reason top pedegree dogs are prone to certain health problems but mongrels are genraly helth problem free

lol yeah, true!, but all the pets shop bettas are normally a fairly old age!
