Whoa Scared For My Fish's Safety Now

the story goes a little like this,
last week, my parents were saying they was doing some changes to the house, so i was like yeah cool
anyways, yesturday the power went out for 3 hours? more maybe? that cheesed me off abit,
anyways, i was woke up this morning by Huge thumps to the wall, with a lump hammer.... they have decided to take a downstairs wall out. or 3.
my tanks are upstairs and everytime there is a thud, all of my fish get insanely startled and aim for the surface.

i dont no how long this is going to go on for, but will they be okay?

Luckily fish have fairly short memory for things like this.

They will remember feeding procedures, (i.e. when you come to the tank they know its dinner time) but they do forget scary moments - even if they go on for a while.

Make sure their filter is still okay by doing a few water tests today and tomorow (some bacteria may have died off due to lack of oxygen when the water flow stopped), keep the lights off so they relax and slow down a bit. Dont feed them today until you know the filter is okay.

They will be fine.

- The tank isnt directly over the wall being knocked down is it? The decision to knock it down wasnt done without an engineers approval was it? Tanks can weigh a lot - and if the wall isnt left structurally sound there could be problems!

well no, its not directly under the tanks.... but they have supported the ceiling to the floor temporarily until the support beam gets put in.....
and luckily i have my lights on timers to i was able to identify that the power went out for an hour and a half... so i should be okay?

really ticks me off because im a builder myself, and the work that has been done can only devalue the house and cause my fish stress.
