I just wanted to add that my five male convicts do school from time to time. When frightened they will all hover in one spot, all turned in different directions. When one of them flees from a perceived threat, they all flee. So, in, short, they are not full time schoolers, but they do school when alerted to danger.

My breeding pair of convicts did take over half of my 8x3x2 tank...so they got moved to a different tank...they are incredibly territorial when breeding!

jeez. so i need help with my stocking then. i want to get a jd or 2, and a raphael catfish. waht else would you suggest? Unless my jd's turn out to be real stunners, i think i want to get more fish in there too! a few silver dollars would probably be ok im assuming? I want a schooling distraction fish, so i thought either silver dollars, or giant danios. i heard they help out a lot, because they're not real smart, so they always seem to get in the way, and prevent the other fish from fightingas much as they would, and whats more, the 'distraction' fish are quick enough to avoid injury, and are actually ok looking.
