Jack, my betta, just died last night.
I had originally thought I'd fill that tank right back up with another betta.
BUT... I am kind of interested in making a mini crab palace and getting a little crab for that tank instead. I have no idea why, I just feel like there's probably a crab out there that needs a good home, too.

SO - I was just wondering if any of you keep crabs in your tanks, and would a 2.5G tank be too small for a crab?

Hmm - so I just found some info on them and it looks like they don't need water in their tank at all... is that right? I'm totally confused cuz I know some people keep crabs in their filled up fish tanks.

From what i know they cant survive without water but they do like to climb out so its good to provide something for them to climb on to get out of the water.
Be careful though, they are little escape artists.
I have no idea how but mine often gets up on top of my filter so hes out of the water.
I am unsure what size tank is adequate for a crab though, sorry.

i have a red claw crab and hes cool, but im not sure if ur tank is big enough, although they need water mine spends all of his time on the filter and then at night comes off to tthe water to feed lol

That depends on the type of crab youre talking about. Are you interested in an aquatic crab, or a land crab??

I guess the one I would want would be a land crab.
What I'd like to do is provide a little environment for him where he would have sand, with a little area that was filled with some water and then a beach made of sand, and then some slate in there so he could climb up onto the slate when he needed to.

I don't know the first thing about them but I've been reading some info.

Would this work?

DOH
Um, yeah - that was NOT intentional.
LOL

I think I'll leave it, now that I think about it. heh heh
