I have had this one for a few months and until recently, the only sightings have been a “fin flash” or something speeding across the tank before disappearing. I can’t remember what type of pleco I bought, I remember that it was on the smaller side for the size of tank I have, it’s been living inside a tree trunk for months and all of a sudden it’s out, flaunting its stripes and having a grand time. Very confusing.

The tank has unfortunately suffered from a worm infestation which I can’t remember the name of but is particularly difficult to eradicate. I’ve lost many fish, but this guy seems to have survived it. A male and female checkered barb remain and they have been crazy breeding the last day or two, so I don’t know if there is something afoot causing them to change behaviour?

But at the end of the day, I’d just like to know what the plec is, it’s beautiful whatever it is! iPhone looked at the photo and suggested Peckoltia Compacta

I'm not sure but it looks a bit similar to Panaqolus sp. (L397) but not quite...
But it also looks like a L398...
