I started the treatment for whitespot lastnight and I used half the recommended dose because of my rainbow albino shark but after switching on the lights this morning he isnt himself.

usually he never ever stops moving,he is always cleaning lol! but today hes very quiet and doesnt want to swim much and when he does it looks like he is struggling to swim also seems a little bent like hes arched but not alot?
He wont eat either and the other fish were nipping him abit (all the other fish leave him be all over times),Ive put him in my large breeding net for the time being just to give him some rest and peace but he is still acting the same.

So could this be the whitespot treatment? though I did half the dose but then again maybe the whitespot is making him ill?

Really dont want to have to lose 2 fish in one week.

How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Have you increased aeration in the tank with the high temp and med.

125 litre
1 albino rainbow shark
3 mollie (1 male and 2 female)
1 dwarf gourami

ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 8
ph 7.5

I didnt add an air stone when I took some water out yesterday before treatment I brought the fluval filter a bit higher up then I normally do so its pushing plenty of air bubbles into the water If you know what I mean?

Im thinking of actually giving up now,I hate seeing fish suffer and then die and cant help feeling maybe ive done something wrong which is why they are all getting ill?

Ok every thing looks fine.
Try going up to 3 quaters of the dose if the fish seem ok with half the dose you have used.

Well we are now in the thinking of putting it out of its misery. Its now led on its side at the top of the breeding net breathing really fast.It doesnt look good at all.I cant believe im prob going to lose 2 fish in one week :(

We love this shark too hes so friendly and is usually always swimming up and down the tank cleaning the glass and the plants.

This sucks!

Does he have whitespot on him as once whitespot affects the gills it fatal they usually end up dying.
I agree he dosn't sound in good shape.

Its really hard to tell if he has any whitespots on him as he is albino but all the fish in that tank have been flicking against the plants.

Hes bent over alot more now I dont know how he is managing to stay up the top.I think its time to put the poor fella out of his misery,I hate getting hubby to do it but I cant see him suffer anymore.Gawd this is awful im going to have to go upstairs for a bit while hubby does it.Sounds silly I know but Ive grown really attached to this one. thank you for your help anyway.

Get a bucket and fill with really cold water and add ice cubes till it's freezing cold
Add the fish it won't take long, but leave him in the bucket a while to make sure he's passed on.
I know how you feel I went to pieces when my daugther hamster was suffering had to call the animal hospital van to take him to the vets to be put down.

ok the deed has been done :(

Didnt read the last post as i went off upstairs and let hubby do it,he hit it over the head  Hope thats not a horrid way? apparently he went right away.

So feel fed up now,I know fish do sometimes die but id rather it was just of old age and no suffering.Doesnt matter what animal it is they are still a pet and have a little personality.

The whitespot med says to repeat dose in 48 hours which would be tommorow so should i just continue as that until whitespot isnt visible and the fish stop flicking? Im also guessing now without the shark I can give the full dose?

from a not so cheery woman

Bless him R.I.P.
Treat another week once spots have gone.
Good luck with the rest.
