Well, I have blasted Whitspot on my Cardinals, and I am not sure how to treat as I have Botia and Cories. I know I cannot use salt! I have a bottle of Cuprazin (Marine :S ), that I was sold a year or so ago, for a freshwater tank??? Can I use that, or do I need to get some Protozin. How would I dose with the catfish?

My tank was looking so lovely, this was all I needed!!!!!

As for the marine meds, can you find an ingredient list on the bottle and compare it to a fresh water med? That would be your best bet to find out what is different and then research if the fresh water fish can have that med or not.

As for treating the scaleless fish, follow the directions carefully. Some meds say to use half a dose (you may want to do this anyway) wihch is gentler on the fish. Turning up the temperature will help speed up the ich life cycle, as will doing water changes to remove the ich that are in the free floating stage.

Also, what are your water stats? When fish become sick, it is often a result of stress, and one major source of stress can be water quality.

I had ich appear clown loach before. I was worried about the infestation spreading throughout the tank, so I decided to treat the tank. But all I did was increase the temp and add aquarium salt (regular dosage). When I used salt, I made sure it was dissolved complete in water and then poured the solution over a long period of time in the water. I also reduced the lighting to only a few hours a day. The reason was, I knew fish get ill from too much stress. So if I reduced the amount of light per day, I figured they would sleep/rest, therefore, reduced their stress. I also performed gravel cleaning and water changes. The ich never spread and all my fish survived with no worries.
