I bought my siamese fighting fish on sunday, ive fed it 2 times on monday and today. I havnt, not once seen it eating, and also today it looks like theres a tone of greyish white on and around his mouth, also under his head a tiny bit. Hes in a 53lt tank with 11 neons and 3 guppies.

Here is a pic of how it looks...

hi mate -

It is normal for your betta not to eat for a couple of days as it will take him a few days to get settled into his new enviroment. so dont worry too much, but if your feeding it and food is still floating about after 5minuites then remove it froom your tank as this will start to break down and rot in your tank.

am i right in thinking 53 lt is about 13 gal ? if so i think that the tank is too full and you might want to re home your betta to at least a 3 gal. i think as well for the safety of your fish you might want to re home your betta on its own becasuse neons are fin nippers and might damage your betta. Guppies have long flowing tails which may cause the betta to nip or attack the guppies.

the pic isnt very clear so i cant see anything on him , are his fins clamped to him or is he twitching rubbing himself against things ?

you may want to check out the pinned topics at the top of this thread for common betta desease .

hope this helps in some way and if im wrong please correct me.

If you have a look at his head, around his eyes youll see that there is whiteness happening

What do you mean by clamped? hes not rubbing himself against things either, it seems that hes staying around the top of the tank alot today.

I moved him to a small fish bowl, hes not moving soo much now, also there looks like there is white bubbles happening on his eye

Things dont seem soo good.... :(

if you can, put him on his own, make sure his water is about 80-82 and lower the water level so its easier for him to take breath.

i would check the pinned topics of betta desease - whether it is velvet i dont know im not to hot on desease - sorry.

hes on his own right now but it doesnt have a heater, the main heater is on the main tank which he came out of.

EDIT: thanks for the info.. but he died his eyes where fully white, his head looked like ulcers and the scales under his head turned white

EDIT: could this have affected one of my guppies? shes not moving around as much as she used to. also i think she is hiding. I hope it hasnt been passed on from the betta
