i recently bourght a nurtrafin CO2 system and for 2 days on a DIY approach its been running smothly after a little yeast problem, well 2 days later and i come home from school to find a small amount of white "string" well more like a pad of white string algae at the bottom, its not going into the water its attatched to the CO2 tube outlet and on the bottom bit of the lader. what is this, im cycing at the momebt and is it dangerious to my bacteria in my Eco compleat gravel.
any help is greatly apreacheated. shang hi
P.S. sorry for any spelling mistakes

It could be some of the sugar/yeast mix flowing up into the tank...? Have you got a one way check valve of a gas separator between the cannister and the tank?

erm.... nope but i cheaked the tube theres nothing in it, no yeast or sugar. maby i should rince the lader out one more then re-install it and see what happens. and a one way valve didn't work last time, ill give it another go. and i don't have a clue how it didn't work it just stoped everything going through it  but thanks for the help

the white string thing is normal, but if it bothers you then use an inline seperator, search on here and youll find the posts about them

Yeh its normal, and only happens with yeast CO2. Only way to get it out of the tank is to clean the diffuser or get a bubble counter and it'll grow in that rather than in the tank.

thankyou, i just didn't know what it was, i gave it a quick clean though to get rid of any yeast that may of got stuck on it, but at least i know its not harmfull to the fish (when i get some) and the plants.
