White Spot

hi all im after some advice, the other day i noticed that 1 of my mollies and one swordtail had what appeared to be whitespot so went and got the api whitespot treatment but in the tank ive got bristlenoses which are scaleless (arent they?) so halfed the dosage then reapeated 48 hours later as instructed on the bottle then done a 25% waterchange 48 hours later as instructed on the bottle but the black molly still has a couple of grains left, now should i repeat the treatment straight away or wait a while ?

repeat the treatment straight away . also do a good thourough gravel vaccing too as the parasite can live in the substrate awaiting a host. raise the temperature slightly too as this will help to speed up the life cycle of the parasite. when treating ich , you are not treating the white spots on the fish themselves , these are cysts which burst and release the free swimming stage of the parasite into the water. it is this which the medication targets.

I did full strength with a malachite green/formalin ich medication and my bristlenose did fine as did my shrimp. I would worry about doing a bunch of half stength efforts leading to potentially resistant ich parasites.
