i have had tropical fish for a couple of months now which have all been healthy, then added some new ones in a few days ago, i noticed today one of the new ones has white spots and have bought treatment for ichs. i was told at the pet shop to remove the charcoal from my filter before using the treatment but i cant see that theres any charcoal in mine. i have a elite stingray filter does anyone no if these even have charcoal or anything that should be removed??
also i have been reading about white spot but cant find anywhere if my fish that is showing the symtoms will die??
thanks!

We have two eilte stingray filters (fab filters for little tanks :D can't praise them enough) and as far as I know they only have foam pads. No carbon. In fact I have the box infront of me and no where on it does it mention carbon.
I've never had a fish with white spot before so sorry I can't help you there but I'm sure I've seen plenty of cases on this forum there the fish have recovered :) best of luck.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Whitespot will look like the fish has been sprinkled in salt. or white spots the size of a grain of salt.
Raise temp to 30.
Increase aeration as the high temp and med reduce 02 in the water.
Read med instuctions carefully that you can use the full dose with the fish you keep. You sometimes have to half dose with scaless fish and neon tetra's.
Black carbon will be black sponge, or little black chips.
