Any help would be appreciated.

I had white spot in my first tropical tank a couple of years ago and it was on the fish and easily identifiable but when I treated it some of the fish died. My new tank has been up and running for about 8 months with no problems I have Gouramis, loaches, guppy's etc and did a 25% water change last week which hasn't caused any water imbalances and all seems fine. Tonight I've noticed I have lots of white 'string' things all over the rocks and ornaments in the tank, there is definitely some parasitic activity as I can just make out movement on the glass but my fish dont seem to have anything on them. Is this white spot?? They are really thin threads that look almost like roots but are most definitely not!

If this is White spot what is the best course of treatment? I know raising the temperature can help. If it isn't white spot what is it and do I have to worry?

If it is white spot, you'd be best with a treatment called protozin by waterlife although it does contain a colour dye.

Is the white stringy bits on the fish as well or just around the tank?

Try cleaning all your glass and do a large water change and keep an eye of your fish. With whitespot, the spots appeaeing on the fish is one of the later symptoms therefore the disease is normally fairly advanced by time the spots appear
